Q&A with Morgan

Q&A with Morgan, Zhurosoft’s 2D & 3D Artist

Q: What do you do at Zhurosoft?

A: I am a 2d and 3d artist. I make anything that needs to be made, whether it’s buildings, icons, creatures, animations for characters and objects, etc..

Q: When did you realize you wanted to be an artist?

A: This is a pretty common answer for an artist but I’ve been drawing since I was a little kid. I’ve also been playing videogames for almost as long. It wasn’t until my junior year in high school that I really started looking into being a game artist. I started watching behind-the-scenes clips that are sometimes included games. After visiting several art colleges I knew that the videogame-making world was for me and went to DigiPen.

Q: Where do you get inspiration for your artwork?

A: Inspiration for me comes from anywhere. I love drawing and creating creatures, so I love watching animal videos and looking at different artists’ books so I can learn from their techniques. I also love delving into game art books, learning how they create their styles for the designs.

Q: Question from Funky Monkey: What’s your favorite video game?

A: That’s a really tough question. I have a lot of favorites for different reasons. I love the Pokemon series; I’ve been playing it since Silver/Gold came out and have been hooked ever since. Red Dead Redemption had an amazing story, characters, environment, and horses. The Jak and Daxter series, all three (Lost Frontier doesn’t count), are close to my heart. I also like simulation games like Sims 3 and Zoo Tycoon. I’ve spent way too many hours in Skyrim. And the Mass Effect series! I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other. That series gave me all the feels.

Q: Question from Walker: What is your favorite animal?

A: Horses are definitely number one. Next would be ferrets, dragons, and dolphins.

Q: Question from kokopuppy577: Have you ever played Pokemon?

A:  Yes. Yes I have played Pokemon. I like Typhlosion, Feraligator, Zebstrika, Talonflame, Gogoat, Lugia, Pikachu, Noibat, and Umbreon. My favorite type would be Fire and Electric, but I try to keep my main team pretty diverse.
